THE SYMBOLS OF SALVATION

1. Baptism

Baptism is for the born-again person, we baptize a believer. Baptizing unbelievers doesn’t save him/her, they need to be born first, and only then they are a candidate for baptism.
Why do we baptize?

Baptism is a symbol of:
A. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
When you are being baptized, you are saying just like Christ I have died, buried for my sins raised from death by being born again or new birth (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4).
B. Identification with the body of Christ.
You are openly saying I’m now one with other believers in Christ (Ephesians 2:19).
C. You have put on Christ as you put on new clothes
(Galatians 3:27).
D. That you have become one with Jesus and His name (Acts 8:12, 16; and chapter 19:5).

2. Communion

1 Corinthians 11:24-32).

We do Communion as a symbol of:
A. Remembrance of Jesus’ death for our sins
B. Fellowship, love, and oneness to Christ and our brothers and sisters in Christ (1 Corinthians 10:17).
C. The blessings, healings, graces, and forgiveness of sins through His body and blood (1 Corinthians 10:16.
D. Declaring that Jesus Christ is coming back again (1 Corinthians 11:26).
